The Tallis Chamber Orchestra was created in 2005 and performed it’s first concert January 15, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wilmington, NC. Since that time, the TCO has presented over twenty-five concerts in the Wilmington area. All the members of the orchestra are from Wilmington and volunteer their time and talent to the group. The TCO takes pride in giving back to the community by promoting Wilmington area musicians and composers. The TCO has played seven compositions written by Wilmington composers including two world premiere pieces written for the orchestra.
The orchestra has also featured many guest soloists from the local area as well as many soloists from within the group. Many of the TCO performances serve as fundraising concerts for local charities and students. The TCO has raised money to help several young Wilmington musicians attend summer music camp. Other concerts have helped raise money for the National Parkinson Foundation and Lower Cape Fear Hospice. The repertoire of the Tallis Chamber Orchestra includes music form the 16th century to the present.
Please send us an email if you would like to find out information about our upcoming 5th season of concerts.
